July 9, 2026 By Larry Aiello

How to say don’t put off until tomorrow what can be done today in Italian?

Non rimandare a domani quello che puoi fare oggi - the Italian translation for Don't postpone until tomorrow what you can do today - www.LearnItalianWithLarry.com

Or sometimes you will find: Don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today.

Non rimandare a domani quello che puoi fare oggi

This is a classic proverb often attributed to Benjamin Franklin.

This proverb advises against procrastination: if you have a task to do, do it now, today, rather than putting it off.

The benefits of doing so are:

  • reduce stress – ridurre lo stress
  • gain peace of mind – raggiungere la tranquillità
  • achieve a sense of accomplishment – provare un senso di realizzazione

You Snooze you Lose in Italian

There is another similar saying in English: “You snooze, you lose.”

Or in Italian it would be: chi dorme non piglia pesci

But it actually translates to meaning whoever sleeps doesn’t catch fish.

It is an implication that those who are lazy will miss out on opportunities.

Italian Vocabulary for this Lesson

Rimandare: to postpone

Domani:  tomorrow

dormire: to sleep

pigliare: to catch, take or grab
