Quanti Amori – Gigi D’Alessio translation and meaning – third video

January 3, 2021 By Larry Aiello

In this video we will look at Quanti Amori by Gigi D’Alessio and continue with the translation and meaning of the song. It is a great way to learn Italian by looking at music lyrics.

LARRY: All right, perfect. So now we start with the second verses, we come up to Tony.

Actually, why don’t you… I wanna split this up here and take these three lines right here.

TONY: Ok. “Passeremo le ore a cantare canzoni che descrivono l’emozione come nascerà.”

LARRY: Ok, we hear it. Oh by the way, I like that little part right there, with the violin coming in… because the violin and then you heard like a little piano, a little piano progression and then like the music stops just for like a split second and then it will start up again. I don’t know if you guys have noticed that.

“Passeremo le ore,

a cantare canzoni

che descrivono l’emozione

come nascerà.”

LARRY: Oh right, so that was passeremo le ore.

TONY: Passeremo, passing time.

LARRY: Ok, passing the hours, passeremo le ore. A cantare canzoni?

TONY: Singing songs.

LARRY: Yep, singing songs. Che descrivono l’emozione come nascerà?

TONY: And describing the emotions as they are born, as they come.

LARRY: Yeah, as they’ve been born. So, will be, will be passing the hours, singing a song that will be describing the emotions that they are born. He’s following in love now, right? the emotion in this story, in the story. Oh righty, Lydia, right here.

LYDIA: Non lasciarti frenare, qualche dubbio è normale. C’è qualcuno che ha proprio le tue stesse affinità.

LARRY: Oh right, let’s hear it.

Non lasciarti frenare,

qualche dubbio è normale.

C’è qualcuno che ha proprio le tue stesse affinità.

LARRY: All right so, non lasciarti frenare?

LYDIA: Don’t let yourself stop, frenare mean to brake.

LARRY: Yeah, perfect, don’t put on the brakes, don’t let yourself put on the brakes.

LYDIA: Some doubt is normal.

LARRY: Yeah.

LYDIA: And there is someone who… oh, this is interesting, has the same affinity… affinity, I don’t know how to translate it.

LARRY: Yeah, c’è qualcuno, c’è qualcuno che ha proprio le tue stesse affinità. There is someone that shares your same affinity, has your same affinity. So, they share the same desire to be together, to be with each other.

LYDIA: Yeah, some doubt is normal, yeah.

LARRY: Qualche dubbio, actually qualche dubbio, some doubt. That’s probably to be singular, some doubt is normal. Qualche dubbio è normale, some doubt is normal. C’è qualcuno che ha proprio le tue stesse affinità, someone that shares your same affinity, your same desires. All right, perfect. Patty? We come back to the chorus now, read these four lines.

PATTY: Ok. Quanti amori nascono così, arrivano come quei caldi d’Africa del nord. E riscaldano tutto il freddo chiuso dentro te e ti lasciano crescere, decidere.

LARRY: All right, let’s hear it.

Quanti amori nascono così,

arrivano come quei venti caldi d’Africa del nord.

E riscaldano tutto il freddo chiuso dentro te

LARRY: Oh, I missed one line.

E ti lasciano crescere, decidere.

LARRY: Here we go, ok… So, quanti amori nascono così?

PATTY: How many stories are born like that.

LARRY: How many love relationships are born this way.

Arrivano come quei venti caldi d’Africa del Nord.

PATTY: They arrive so, they come like the warm winds from northern Africa.

LARRY: Yeah, perfect.

PATTY: And they again, they warm up the coldest… is that inside? inside you.

LARRY: Dentro te, yes. E riscaldano tutto il freddo chiuso dentro te.

They heat up all the cold that is closed inside of you. E ti lasciano crescere, decidere.

PATTY: Let you grow like this is “decide”.

LARRY: Yeah, let you grow and decide. Perfect.
