Palermo Cathedral Rooftop Pictures Zoom Call

August 25, 2025 By Larry Aiello

This video is another Zoom call recording that I presented to my Italian Meetup group in Tampa.

In the presentation, I show some pictures from the rooftop of the Palermo Cathedral in Sicily.

For an extra fee, you can climb up the winding staircase to the rooftop and receive some of the best panoramic views of Palermo, Sicily.

It is very much worth it and highly recommended.  Although if you are claustrophobic, the climb up the staircase is a little less than desirable.

They opened admission to the rooftop around 2016 or 2017.

Previously, you were not allowed to visit it.  The price to visit the Palermo Cathedral rooftop is approximately 5 to 7 euros per person.
From the rooftop, you will see the fantastic architecture of the Sicilian capital city with the mountains in the background and the sea off in the distance.

In the video, I also show a picture of the very ornate Chuch of St. Augustine in Palermo.  It is a Gothic church that opened in 1275 and lies near the Il Capo street market of Palermo.  The city is famous for its outdoor Arab-style markets that sell fresh fruits, vegetables, and other produce.

Teatro Massimo

There are also some pictures of the Teatro Massimo, the largest opera house in Italy.  A famous scene in The Godfather: Part III takes place at this location.

Mafia Passageway

I also came across a passageway used by the mafia to transport goods in a local restaurant that I visited.

There is also a fish vendor on a three-wheeled vehicle, advertising his fish for sale, going through the neighborhood streets.

And you will also see a baby horse pulling a traditional Sicilian carriage through the streets of Palermo, Italy.
