Italian Inspiration about Opinions – Liberating!

February 14, 2026 By Larry Aiello

We all know the old saying. Opinions are like anuses. Everyone has one.

Conosciamo tutti il vecchio detto: le opinioni sono come gli ani. Ognuno ne ha uno.

But the most important opinion in your life is your own. Once you realize that the opinions of others are not the most important ones, then you achieve true freedom.

Ma l’opinione più importante nella vita è la propria. Quando capisci che le opinioni degli altri non sono le più importanti, allora raggiungi la vera libertà.

I’m not saying to ignore the advice of experts when it comes to matters regarding your health, finances, legal issues, etc.

Non sto dicendo di ignorare i consigli degli esperti quando si tratta di questioni riguardanti la salute, le finanze, le questioni legali, ecc.

What I am referring to is when you seek the approval of others at the expense of your own well-being with regard to who you marry, the car you drive, the neighborhood where you live, etc.

Mi riferisco a quando cerchi l’approvazione degli altri a scapito del tuo benessere per quanto riguarda la persona che sposi, l’auto che guidi, il quartiere in cui vivi, ecc.

Grammar Rules about Opinione in Italian

Singular: l’opinione (the opinion)

Plural: le opinioni (the opinions)

Gender: Feminine

Since the word begins with a vowel, the definite article “la” becomes l’ with an apostrophe in the singular case.

And like many ione words in Italian the ending e will change to i in the plural.

Examples of Expressing Opinions in Italian

Secondo me – in my opinion

A mio parere – in my view

Trovo che – I find that

Asking for Opinions in Italian
